Clients/Business = Internet Traffic

There are three types of traffic on the Internet that come to your web site:

Organic or Non-Paid

If there aren't any paid advertisers on the page all of the results are considered organic. Organic search results appear below the top three advertisements and to the left of paid advertisers or what is considered the main body of the page.

Direct or Referral

When you tell someone the URL of your web site or they see it advertised some where other than the Internet and they type in the URL and are taken directly to your website this is known as "Direct Traffic". When another website has your website URL contained in its contents, and someone clicks on that URL (link) and is sent directly to your website this click is called "Referral Traffic".

Pay per Click (PPC)

Paid search results appear as the first three advertisers at the top highlighted in beige and on the right hand side of the SERP results page. Each time anyone clicks on your Pay Per Click (PPC) ad, the advertiser pays a search engine company for that click. Search engine companies reserve the top of the page to be seen first for advertisers with the best cost per click bids in a auction style atmosphere.
